About Lucy
I grew up in fly fishing lodges, where travel was never just about place, but about people, water, and the stories that unfolded around them. My childhood was shaped by watching my father, Peter Mantle, build and run some of the most respected fly fishing destinations in the world, driven by an unwavering determination to offer truly world-class experiences. From Ireland to the Bahamas, the lodges he created became known not only for exceptional fishing, but for warmth, character, and a deep sense of place.
That upbringing instilled in me a belief that adventure can be found in every corner of the world—and that the most memorable journeys are those thoughtfully put together, with care and personality at their core. I’ve always loved the human side of travel: listening, understanding what excites someone, and shaping an experience that feels distinctly theirs.
Over the past five years, I’ve focused increasingly on fly fishing travel, fishing in more than 12 countries across four continents. Highlights include a self-organised expedition from Cape Town to the Congo, where I attempted to become the first woman to land a Goliath tigerfish on the fly—only to lose a 40lb-plus fish after a hard-won battle. While the fish won that day, the experience cemented my love for ambitious, carefully planned adventure.
Alongside my own travels, I’ve hosted and organised numerous trips to some of the world’s most compelling destinations, including Sette Cama in Gabon, Pongola in South Africa, the Delphi Club in the Bahamas, and Don Joaquin in Argentina. Each journey has reinforced my belief that great travel lies in the details: the right guides, the right timing, and an experience that feels seamless yet deeply personal.
